Mayhap call DMV, since they'd be the ones who could answer the question?

And looking on their website, the vehicle registration from says it can not be mailed in from out of state: http://doa.alaska.gov/dmv/forms/pdfs/812.pdf

And so you'll accept to register it in Oregon first. I bought a vehicle in Washington one time and they gave a 30 day registration so I could get through Canada and then I registered it once I got up. I'k not sure if Oregon does the same thing.

I bought a used vehicle in New York two years agone. Brought the title home to AK, registered and got AK plates, and so took the AK plates and registration back to New York.

I was working in that location and traveling back and forth. You lot plainly don't have that choice. Yous may take to do the double registration matter.

We recently got a car in Oregon for a son going to school back east. They told us at the dealership that the temporary permit was really good only in Oregon, only Washington honors them. They also said that Canada would non permit it. We ended up leaving the car in Seattle with relatives and got the plates when we got back home. I mailed them to my sis, who put them on the auto. We were going to drive the car to Alaska, go the plates, so drive to school, merely crossing Canada changed our plans. So the machine sat for a couple of months and we drove from Seattle to his schoolhouse.

A new or used vehicle typically comes with a temporary 30-day registration if purchased from a dealer. Before I moved to Alaska I purchased a 1-ton trailer in California which included a 30-day temporary registration. Before that temporary registration expired I had already moved to Alaska, therefore, I registered the trailer in Alaska.

The dealer where I purchased the trailer too allowed me not to pay whatsoever California sales tax, since I was moving out of Land. Notwithstanding, I exercise non believe that was correct. Sales revenue enhancement should be applied where yous have possession. For case, I purchased two vehicles in Wasilla. I paid the $12.50 Wasilla sales revenue enhancement on the outset vehicle, only the 2d vehicle was delivered to my habitation which is outside of Wasilla's urban center limits. Therefore, I did not pay the Wasilla sales tax on my second vehicle since I did not take possession of the vehicle within urban center limits.

However, I do not believe that was right. Sales tax should exist applied where y'all have possession.

Sales revenue enhancement on cars, boats, planes, trailers.. Thing that are registered, are paid where its registered, Temp Tags (even know its registered with that state) Is not considered to be registered for sales tax. When you register the trailer in Alaska with Permanent plates, thats when the taxable (if any) outcome takes place.

The departure being Alaska has no State sales tax, but the town of Wasilla does. If I accept possession of a product inside the jurisdiction of Wasilla, and then I pay Wasilla's sales tax. If I do non take possession of a production within the jurisdiction of Wasilla, and then I do not pay the Wasilla sales revenue enhancement.

I besides purchased several products from Sears in Wasilla, that did not require registration, with the same effect. If I did not take possession of the production within Wasilla's jurisdiction, I paid no sales taxation. Otherwise, I did pay the Wasilla sales taxation.

My husband bought a vehicle in Oregon on line. The seller mailed everything up, so my hubby flew down to Oregon and I licensed the vehicle, then mailed the plate and tags to him. He was on a 2 calendar month trip and would rather practise that than only get a 30 24-hour interval tag.

We bought a suburban in MT sometime ago and mailed our registration stuff in to Delta Junction (where we lived at the time) and got our car registered that way. Maybe they've changed things since then? Or the big towns are not doing information technology crusade they are already so busy?
